Conference Description
The 20th Annual British Commonwealth and Postcolonial Studies Conference, brings together scholars, students, and artists from the national and international community. We focus on the course and consequences of British colonization--in Africa, the Middle East, Ireland, the Far East, and elsewhere--in the arts and sciences, on history, on ecology, and so on. Postcolonial Studies is the first journal specifically aimed at publishing work which explores the various facets—textual, figural, spatial, historical, political and economic—of the colonial encounter. Roughly 150 internationally renowned and beginning academics and independent scholars attend the two-day event in Savannah, sponsored by the Georgia Southern University Department of Literature and Philosophy. The British Commonwealth and Postcolonial Studies Conference will be held at the Coastal Georgia Center in Savannah.
