About Venue
Opened on 26th September, 1987, the George R. Brown Convention Center was situated on the east side of downtown Houston. Named after Houstonian George R. Brown, an entrepreneur, civic leader and philanthropist, the center is operated and owned by the City of Houston, Convention & Entertainment Facilities Department. The sleek 100 foot (30 m) high red-white-and-blue building replaced the obsolete Albert Thomas Convention Center, which was later redeveloped into the Bayou Place entertainment complex in the downtown Houston Theater District. Vesting on an an area of 1.2 million square feet, exhibiting, meeting and registration space, it has 7 exhibition halls and are fully equipped with world class amenities. Some of the major exhibitions being held in George R. Brown Convention Center are: Construction Expo-Houston, Industrial Fire Safety & Security Expo (IFSS Expo) etc.

It is equipped with services like ADA Accessibility, audio/PA system, electrical & utility capabilities, floor load limits, food service, freight access, freight elevators, lighting, parking, telephone, booth cleaning etc. The center is well equipped with all types of business amenities as it has an arena with telescopic seating which can easily accommodate 6000 people for large scale presentations, concerts, corporate meetings, and sporting events. It has 3600 seat tired theater hall, 17 Show Offices, 8 boardrooms, 4 conference rooms, 39 freight doors, 66 loading docks.
